A brief history of Random Czar
Ever wondered how Random Czar got started? The Begining! Rhiannon and Heather have known each other for 19 years- after all, they are sisters! Several years ago, Rhiannon started listening to illegally downloaded Beatles tracks from the old school Napster and became obsessed with music. Eventually, her parents gave in and bought her an Ibanez AW100 acoustic guitar for her birthday, as well as lessons. Aside from learning herself, she taught her sister, Heather, the basics as well. Heather's natural talent for the guitar quickly became obvious. Cover Up!
In December of 04, the girls recorded their first album, Cover Up, using a cheap microphone and basic editing software. The result was a ten track album of low audio quality that was subject to a microscopic free release. The tracks on it included covers of the songs 'Don't Stop,' 'Every Breath You Take,' 'It's Still Rock and Roll to Me,' and 'Sweet Child of Mine.' It also had comedic tracks, 'Beau Brummel' and 'Hello?' that were created when things went wrong while recording, as well as parodies of 'Danny's Song' and '(I've Had) The Time of My Life.' The final comedic track was 'Floating Away in My Magic Cubicle,' a spoof of office life wrote by Heather. The album also showcased 'Overstaying My Welcome,' an original rock song by Rhiannon. Alien Ice Rink! One year later, the girls decided to make a new album. This time, they had better software to work with and spent more time on it, resulting in Alien Ice Rink, the five track electropop rock thing that marked the true beginning of RC's career- that was when Heather named the band, incorporating both girl's nicknames. The tracks on this album- with the exception of 'Leviathan' and 'Camera Shy' can be heard and downloaded for free on our myspace page. YouTube! Nowadays, most of RC's notoriety comes from the youtube account, MilleniumAi, where Rhiannon makes odd little anime/video game videos and posts them with RC's music. Though the amount of exposure this has gotten the band eclipsed any of our other efforts, Rhiannon later took down many of the videos because she felt thier quality was low. The Future!? So now what? Well, Random Czar is still making music, and intends to release more of our electronic-y stuff, as well as some guitar rock. A new album with a wider release may be comming up... |
